My blog features the extraordinary life of Pierre Wibaux (1858-1913), the son of a manufacturer family of Roubaix-Tourcoing who became one of the most successful French emigrate in the US in the 19th century.

Settled down in Eastern Montana,  he started ranching on a very large scale, raising up to 50.000 cattle heads. He then took on other activities such as banking and mining. Despite his success, he kept close links with his native country and espacially with his native city.

Why this man decided to break away from his family businesses and how did he live its emigration experience?
